Born and raised in Reno, Anthony Villanueva always knew he wanted a career where he could make a meaningful impact. His passion for healthcare led him to the Orvis School of Nursing, where he graduated in May 2025, marking a milestone that might not have been possible without the Ryan Lipparelli Scholarship.
Balancing full-time work at Hidden Valley Golf Course, Anthony diligently saved his tips to cover his expenses, with his parents’ support until he moved out in the summer of 2024. Even with the financial challenges of nursing school, he remained committed to his community, volunteering at both the Salvation Army and the Sanford Center for Aging, as well as mentoring new nursing students. When financial pressures threatened to delay his education, Anthony found himself praying for someone to lift him up—and that’s when he discovered the Ryan Scholarship. Without it, he would have had to take a year off to save for his final semester. Instead, the scholarship allowed him to graduate on time, keeping him on the path toward his dream.
Described by friends as caring, loyal, funny, goofy, and smart, Anthony thrives in fast-paced environments. His goal is to work in hospital trauma centers, gaining critical experience before transitioning into the life of a traveling nurse, where he can take his compassion and expertise wherever it’s needed most.
Anthony’s journey embodies the spirit of the Ryan Lipparelli Scholarship—determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
